ASIAN, Inc. has joined with the US Bureau of the Census in the operation of a Census Information Center (CIC). There are 59 CICs located throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. They are non-governmental organizations whose role is to disseminate census information and other statistical data to historically underserved communities.

As a CIC, ASIAN, Inc. receives Census 2000 data and reports as soon as they are issued. We also have in our library an extensive collection of reports from earlier censuses back to 1960, as well as the economic censuses, census surveys, and compilations from other agencies such as the Immigration and Naturalization Service. Much of the Census 2000 material is appearing in electronic rather than printed form, and CIC staff have been trained in retrieval procedures.

Members of the public will be able to use the census materials in our collection at no charge, by appointment. All materials must remain on our premises. You may make a limited number of copies at a reasonable per-page charge. Unfortunately we are unable to make copies for you or to devote more than a nominal amount of staff time to answer questions.

Our staff can be available to perform more extensive research under contract in our areas of interest. Contact the CIC director for further details.

ASIAN, Inc. is particularly interested in the demographics of the Asian American populations of the San Francisco Bay Area and of California in general, and also in the minority business communities in those same areas. We summarize and analyze data on those topics from time to time, and will attach our findings to this web page. We here at ASIAN, Inc. are interested about these topics because we care about the progress of Asian Americans. We like to hear occurrences that relate to the uprising of Asian American population and the minority communities in the San Francisco Bay Area and California.
