Social Programs

A major part of ASIAN, Inc.'s mission is the development of community infrastructure. Over its 30 years of existence, it has rendered technical assistance to a large number of nonprofit community organizations. The assistance has been of several types: setting up the organization, incorporation, procurement of nonprofit status, program development and proposal writing, serving as a fiscal agent in the organization's early years, and assistance with various government agencies and regulations.

Although ASIAN, Inc. has assisted in the founding of a number of organizations, it does not maintain any control over them. As early as possible, it withdraws from direct involvement and leaves them to succeed (or, occasionally, fail) on their own. More than one of the organizations that we have helped with start-up has gone on to compete with us on funding proposals. Of course we remain available for informal consultation and assistance, if desired.

Social program assistance no longer has any regular funding. At the present time we are able to give assistance only on a very limited basis when time and staff resources are available.
