DESCRIPTION:Come for an exciting evening of acoustic jams\, your favorite Asian snacks\, and discussion with NYC band Chanpan! Together with ASIAN\, Inc. and Save Cantonese\, Chanpan is stopping in SF as part of their Election Year US Tour to host a FREE open-door mixer. In addition to an acoustic set\, Grace Dumdaw\, Lance Tran\, and Matthew Tran will have a community audience discussion drawing from their backgrounds in TV & movie acting\, national politics\, community organizing\, and Asian American advocacy. \n  \nAbout Chanpan: \nChanpan is an Asian American band featuring Grace Dumdaw and identical twins Lance and Matthew Tran. Since their start busking the streets of Chinatown\, they’ve already been praised by Vogue as a “very cool New York band”\, covered in New York Times’ T Magazine\, and featured by Live Nation’s Ones to Watch. The trio’s individual accolades in politics\, community organizing\, and film & television have been featured by The New Yorker\, HBO\, Billboard\, CNN\, and more. Their music combines dance pop\, jazzy soul\, and energetic vibes\, earning them 540k+ streams on Spotify with singles like “Jungle” and “ooweeooweeoo.” \nChanpan is embarking on their first national US tour on their “Election Year” campaign\, critiquing the American political landscape through the single while stopping to promote grassroots community-building in each city. They will be playing the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco on October 1 with Japanese artist Haru Nemuri. \n  \nAbout Moderator Leianne Lamb: \nLeianne Wong Lamb\, a seasoned leader in high-tech marketing with roles at Apple\, Cisco\, and cybersecurity companies\, is the Executive Director of Contemporary Asian Theater Scene (CATS). As a third-generation Chinese American\, Leianne is passionate about advocating for AAPI representation in the arts. She produced programs promoting AAPI social justice\, and Asian American and African American solidarity\, and amplifies voices of AAPI activists and artists. Leianne is proud to have launched the “Realities of AAPI Artists” interview series to encourage young artists and their families to explore the challenges and rewards of an artistic career. During the pandemic\, she joined safety patrols in San Francisco’s Chinatown and spearheaded the effort in San Jose Japantown.

He has served on numerous San Francisco commissions and the California Small Business Board\, chaired the Mayor’s Chinatown Economic Development Group\, and contributed to significant legislation as a legislative aide to U.S. Senator Alan Cranston. Chan has been recognized as a Northern California “Super Lawyer” and recently concluded his presidency of the Chinese Historical Society of America. \nAnita Chan is the owner of ANITA B SPA in San Francisco and co-author of the best-seller Asian Women Who BossUp. With a BA in Fundamentals of Self-Image from San Francisco State University and an aesthetician license\, she has over 12 years of experience in luxury and medical spas. Anita is dedicated to treating each client’s unique skin needs with education\, compassion\, and a personalized approach. \nWilliam Ortiz-Cartagena\, a Mission District native\, brings over a decade of hospitality expertise and community service\, focusing on supporting underserved communities through nonprofit leadership and small business advocacy with organizations like Clecha. \nYolanda Lewis is a visionary leader and advocate for diversity\, equity\, and inclusion in technology and business\, with over 20 years of experience. As co-founder of Digital Mobility\, she provides solutions to expand technology access and adoption in underserved communities and has authored numerous works on technology adoption for multicultural communities.
